Santa Fe crash kills 2, hurts 1 near stadium

Two Santa Fe residents were killed and a third was injured in a threevehic­le accident in the 16600 block of Texas 6.

The chain- reaction collision happened about 7: 15 p. m. Friday near Indian Stadium. According to Santa Fe police, a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Charles Orsak rear- ended a 1995 Jeep driven by Sharon Zakkizadeh.

The impact caused the Jeep to roll over, ejecting Zakkizadeh, 65, and apparently killing her instantly, police said.

The driverless Jeep then crossed into eastbound traffic and hit a 1991 Honda driven by Joseph Seymour, 58, who was trapped in his vehicle and also died.

Orsak, 29, was flown to the University of TexasMedic­al Branch in Galveston, where he was listed as stable Saturday. accused of staging her own abduction because she wanted a day off from work and some attention.

Sheila Bailey Eubank is charged with aggravated perjury. The 48- year- old woman was arrested Wednesday.

The San Antonio Express- News reported that Eubank was found in her car, tied up with rope.

Police say that she told police an unknown man got into her car and threatened her with a knife.

But police say they found a lottery ticket in her purse that was bought at a nearby store. Surveillan­ce footage from the store shows Eubank looking unworried.

When shown the footage, she admitted making up the abduction story.

She has been released on $ 100,000 bail, according to online records. failed on the 200- foot- tall Stratosphe­re ride and stranded about two dozen people in the air.

The riders were trapped for a little more than two hours Friday.

Dallas fire officials say all of the riders were manually lowered to the ground by about 11: 20 p. m. No one was hurt.

The Stratosphe­re swings riders in a circle high above the fairground­s in Dallas.

The attraction will be closed for the rest of this year’s fair.
