St. Thomas coach arrested in porn case
The wrestling coach at St. Thomas High School has been arrested on child porn charges.
Gordon Daniel Oehmig, 29, faces five counts of possession of child pornography, court records show. He was released from custody after posting a $ 20,000 bail on each count, for a total $ 100,000.
Oehmig was arrested at his Houston home Thursday following a monthlong investigation into the trafficking of child pornography in the Harris County area.
Using specialized software, officers with the HoustonMetro Internet Crime Against Children Task Force located a computer online that was using a peer- to- peer program to share hundreds of images of child porn, according to an arrest warrant filed on Thursday.
Officers with a search warrant seized computers, a server and a digital storage device that contained about 1,500 digital images and 900 digital videos of children as young as 1 engaged in sex with adults, according to the arrest warrant.
St. Thomas High School officials announced on the school website that Oehmig resigned his position when the charges surfaced.
None of the alleged activities took place at St. Thomas, and no students are involved, school officials said.
“We want you to know that the care, safety, well- being and education of our students are always the top priority,” according to the school news release. “St. Thomas intends to be fully cooperative with authorities as this investigationmoves forward.”
