Missed opportunity: A& M freshman TreyWilliams returned a kickoff 76 yards in the fourth quarter and was pushed out of bounds at the LSU 16- yard line. The Tigers led 17- 12 at the time. The return marked A& M’s longest in two years. However, it didn’t result in any points. The Aggies moved the ball only 2 yards in three plays, and freshman kicker Taylor Bertolet missed a 33- yard field goal attempt. Welcomeback: LSU earned its first victory at Kyle Field since 1987, when the Tigers defeated Jackie Sherrill’s Aggies 17- 3. A& M, which saw its five- game winning streak snapped, and LSUmet for the 51st time in history but for the first time as conference rivals. Spreading it around: Ten different receivers caught passes for A& M, including freshman Mike Evans, who had six catches for 76 yards. on the A& M41- yard line with 46 seconds remaining. Tigers quarterback ZachMettenberger responded by lofting a perfect 29- yard touchdown strike to Kadron Boone, suddenly giving LSU a 14- 12 lead at halftime.

“We got behind, but we felt like it was only amatter of time before we got back on track,” LSU coach LesMiles said.

The Tigers padded their lead in the second half afterManziel threw his final interception, this one to Tharold Simon, late in fourth quarter, and a play later LSU’s Jeremy Hill busted loose for a 47yard touchdown run.

The Aggies’ final fumble came on a desperation play, when they tossed the ball backward in trying to make an improbable 79- yard score. The ball finally popped loose, and the LSU defenders fell on it in celebration.
