Rays rally in 9th to top Orioles

BALTIMORE — Matt Joyce hit a big two-run double in a six-run ninthinnin­g rally, lifting Tampa Bay to a 10-6 victory on Saturday, ending Baltimore’s franchise-record streak of 109 straight wins when leading after seven innings.

Joyce also homered and finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs.

It was the third straight road victory for the Rays, all of them in come-frombehind fashion.

With the Rays trailing 6-4, Kelly Johnson hit a one-out homer off Jim Johnson, whose club-record streak of 35 straight saves ended Tuesday.

Johnson then loaded the bases on two walks and a hit before Joyce doubled to the rightcente­r gap for a 7-6 lead. Ben Zobrist followed with a two-run double off Darren O’Day, who later issued a bases-loaded walk to Luke Scott. D-BACKS 1, MARLINS 0

Gerardo Parra led off the game with a first-pitch home run and Brandon McCarthy made it stand up, pitching a three-hitter for his first win since being struck in the head by a line drive last season, as Arizona won at Miami. REDS 10, PHILLIES 0

OF Michael Cuddyer says he doubts his neck will bother him again this season after getting an epidural that relieved pain and stiffness.

Cuddyer, who returned to throwing and taking batting practice Saturday, got an injection Tuesday and said he was pain-free 48 hours later, just as he was two years ago when he had a shot for the same ailment. ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

The team placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain.

General manager John Mozeliak says the team became aware of the issue about a week ago and had hoped Garcia could work through it. This is Garcia’s fourth trip to the disabled list, including a two-month stint during the 2012 season with a left shoulder sprain. TEXAS RANGERS

RHP Colby Lewis (elbow) and C A.J. Pierzynski (strained oblique) will begin rehab assignment­s Monday for Class AA Frisco. Lewis was removed from his rehab stint earlier in the week with triceps tendinitis, but he threw on the field Saturday with no problems.
