Agent thrives on real estate market’s fast pace

- By Rebecca Maitland

Houston’s west side, particularly the Memorial area, is a booming real estate market, where homes are staying on the market only a few days, and one Realtor in the area, Bonnie Laughlin with Greenwood King Properties, is front and center working with clients.

“I have lived in Memorial for almost 20 years, and simply love this area, which is family oriented, and has incredible schools, great shopping and restaurants close by. Memorial has all the charms and benefits of living in a small town with all the advantages and conveniences of living in a big city,” Laughlin said.

In the real estate industry for 15 years, she said she simply loves houses, and loves what she does. Her passion for helping clients reach their goals, either buying or selling, means that she doesn’t watch the clock or wait for weekends.

The real estate business is not a nine-to-five job. Therefore, she is available and accessible to her clients on a flexible schedule to meet their needs.

Houses come on the market at different times, so Laughlin makes it a point to track market activities daily.

When a client sees a new listing, they want to discuss it right away. In this business, and especially in this market, the difference between talking on Friday afternoon and Monday morning could be the difference between buying the house or not.

“I am an extremely positive person with an upbeat and cheerful attitude, an incredible work ethic, and I am passionate about what I do. In any industry, including real estate, I believe people gravitate and want to work with people who enjoy what they do because it is evident, and it makes the experience more enjoyable,” Laughlin said.

In an effort to offer her clients the best service possible, Laughlin has continued to take many courses throughout the years, over and above her bachelor of business administration degree.

She earned her commercial real estate license in 1984. Although Laughlin was very successful in this field and later in medical sales specializing in contract negotiations, she soon realized her passion was the residential real estate market, so she returned to do what she enjoys most.

“I have taken many real estate courses over the years, including several designation courses. In my opinion, it is very important to continue one’s education. Yet, experience and building positive relationships with clients are what carry the day,” Laughlin said.

Laughlin said she is honored to be recognized among her real estate peers as a top producer within her firm.

“I am extremely proud that I have been a member of a top-producing team with Lucille Fendley and Lisa Swanson, since I have been in the industry. Greenwood King Properties is an incredible company,” she said.
