Jones lifts Texas A & Mover Mississipp­i

COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M, sparked by one spectacula­r dunk, overcame the loss of two key guards in a 71-60 victory over Mississipp­i on Saturday.

Jamal Jones, who started his career at Ole Miss before transferri­ng, led the Aggies with 21 points; Jarvis Summers paced the Rebels with 18. Ole Miss star guard Marshall Henderson finished with 16 points.

Meanwhile, the Aggies played without senior Fabyon Harris and freshman Shawn Smith, who’ve traded out starts at shooting guard for much of the season.

HOUSTON 89, TEMPLE 79

TaShawn Taylor scored 24 points, and the Cougars picked up a rare road win with a victory over the Owls in Philadelph­ia.

It was UH’s third road of win of the season.

Dalton Pepper led Temple with 24 points.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE 65 RICE 41

Shawn Jones had 15 points, and the Blue Raiders rebounded from their first loss in eleven games to lead wire-to-wire in a blowout of the Owls in Murfreesbo­ro, Tenn.

Ross Wilson led Rice with had eight points and seven rebounds.

SMU 70 CENTRAL FLORIDA 55

Markus Kennedy scored 18 points, and the No. 23 Mustangs took another step toward their first NCAA Tournament berth in 21 years with a victory over the Knights in Dallas.

TEXAS SOUTHERN 86 ALABAMA ST. 66

D’Aris Scarver scored 21 points, and D’Angelo Scott grabbed 17 rebounds as the Tigers walloped the Hornets at H&PE Arena.

Luther Page scored 14 points for Alabama State.

Nicholas West scored 19 points with four rebounds and six blocks as the Bulldogs defeated the Panthers in Prairie View.

Montrael Scott led Prairie View A&M with 15 points.

Nate McAnelly scored 19 points, Deric Dudley had 17, and Bryan Kaase added 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Celts cruised past the Warriors in Muskogee, Okla.

Matt Qualls led Bacon with 21 points

Eron Harris scored 18 as the Mountainee­rs beat the Horned Frogs in Morgantown, W.Va.
