UTEP keeps Rice, Kuster in check in home finale

Faced with constant double or triple teams, senior forward Jessica Kuster managed just seven points and had 10 rebounds as UTEP spoiled Rice’s senior day, winning 72-57 at Tudor Fieldhouse.

In her final home game, Kuster was held to 3-of-9 shooting.

Christal Porter, the only Owl in double figures, led Rice with a game-high 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Kristine Vitola scored 18 points and Sparkle Taylor added 14 for the Miners.

MEMPHIS 55, HOUSTON 45

Pa’Sonna Hope scored a game-high 12 poinrts and Ariel Hearn added 11 to help Memphis edge UH on senior day at Hofheinz Pavillion.

Senior forward Te’onna Cambell paced the Cougars with 10 points and added four steals. Destini Texada had eight points and seven rebounds in the Cougars’ final home game of the season.

TEXAS 67, TEXAS TECH 64

Forward Nneka Enemkpali scored 19 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Longhorns to the road win.

Haley Schneider, Amber Battle and Ivonne Cook-Taylor had 14 points apiece for the Lady Raiders.

TEXAS A&M-C.C. 90 HOUSTON BAPTIST 65

Brandi Huff scored 21 points and Jasmine Shaw had 20 as the Islanders cruised to the win in Corpus Christi.

Shanice Steenholdt led the Huskies with 22 points and eight rebounds.

PRAIRIE VIEW 98 ALABAMA A&M77

Shamiya Brooks scored a game-high 22 points and LaReahn Washington added 20, helping the Panthers pound the Bulldogs in Prairie View.

ST. THOMAS 66, BACONE 42

Maghen Lormand scored 15 points and Taylor Mitchell and Chante Jefferson had 11 apiece in the Celts’ road win.

UCONN 72, RUTGERS 35

Breanna Stewart and Bria Hartley each scored 20 points to help the No. 1 Huskies remain unbeaten with a home victory.

LOUISVILLE 75 CINCINNATI 51

Tia Gibbs scored 17 points and Antonia Slaughter added 14 as the No. 3 Cardinals coasted to the home win.

PENNSTATE 77, MICHIGAN 62

Ariel Edwards scored 21 points to lead the eighthrank­ed Lady Lions to a share of the Big Ten title.

OKLAHOMA ST. 67 KANSAS ST. 62

Senior Tiffany Bias scored 17 points in her final home game to boost the No. 15 Cowgirls.
