Bridgeland donates site for GHBA charity effort

-

Bridgeland, a Howard Hughes Corp. development, has for the fifth year donated a homesite for the construction of a Greater Houston Builders Association Benefit Homes Project home. This is an annual fundraiser that brings together prime locations, top name builders and luxury homes that when sold provide funds to three local charities.

“Bridgeland and the Howard Hughes Corp. continue to show their commitment to giving back to the community in which they build,” said Toy Wood, CEO of the GHBA. “This fifth lot donation is a huge contribution, and when you consider that developed land is in such high demand right now, the donation is even more impressive. We can’t thank the Howard Hughes organization enough for another successful year for the Benefit Homes Project.”

Perry Homes recently broke ground on the site to build its 3199W E-70 plan, a 3,199-square-foot, two-story home with four bedrooms, 3½ bathrooms and a threecar garage.

Each year two or three homes are built for the project with donated land, materials, labor and services. The luxurious homes are sold at market value and the majority of the proceeds benefit the three local charities. This fundraiser has raised more than $9 million since it began 35 years ago.

Bridgeland, an 11,400acre community managed by The Woodlands Development Co., was launched in 2006. The community devotes 3,000 acres to open space and includes a strong retail component — including a 900-acre town center along the Grand Parkway — in its master plan. The master-planned community is in Cypress between U.S. 290 and I-10 on Fry Road and bisected by a segment of the Grand Parkway.

“Hidden Creek exemplifies the caliber of Bridge- land,” said Peter Houghton, vice president of masterplanned communities. “As northwest Houston experiences significant growth and housing demand increases, our newest section offers buyers a range of options and amenities.”

Hidden Creek will introduce an extensive list of amenities, including Lakeland Village Park, a 20-acre green space that will feature an enclosed dog park, a basketball court, canoe launch and a skate park. Additional tennis courts, picnic areas, walking trails and pavilions also are planned as well as a splash pad, playground, a year-round heated lap pool and Josey Lake, an expansive waterway that runs along the perimeter of Hidden Creek.
