Home buyers seminars will be held:
Jan. 26 and Feb. 3 from 5:45-7 p.m. at The Plum Coffee Shop at 11688 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress and Jan. 31 from 6:45-8 p.m. at the Market Place in Towne Lake at 9703 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress and Feb. 3, 6:30-7:15 p.m. at Phoenicia Coffee House at 12151 Westheimer Road (close to Dairy Ashford).
The seminars, hosted by Megan Donaldson, Certified Residential Specialist Realtor and Certified Buyer Representative with RE/ MAX Prestige, will cover incentives for buyers in all price ranges; the steps to buying a new or resale home; avoiding costly mistakes; credit restoration programs; obtaining free HUD foreclosure listings; and no down-payment program eligibility. Attendees will be able to find out their current credit scores and debt ratios for the down-payment assistance programs available. There will be a discussion about VA, FHA, conventional loan programs as well as USDA 100 percent loan program in the Houston area, which does not require a down payment, and all current down payment programs.
Other topics will include preparation for a mortgage, prequalification for a loan, understanding purchase contract agreements, the art of negotiating, home warranty protection services available, key questions to ask when buying a foreclosure or HUD home, and buyer’s financial assistance. Texas Real Estate Commission inspector and TREC-certified instructor Michael Race with Pillar to Post will cover home inspections and costly mistakes to avoid. Information pertaining to title flaws and the benefits of clear title will be presented.
