Built for the J.A. Platt family in 1937, this country French home on more than an acre at the corner of River Oaks Boulevard was designed by architect Joseph Finger.

Listing agent Cathy Blum of Greenwood King Properties said the home has been restored by the current owners and features limestone and wood flooring, metal windows and doors, crown molding, terraces, a guest house, and a pool.

With more than 8,100 square feet, the two-story home is surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds that include boxwood gardens that Blum said were designed by the owner along with landscape designer Sarah Lake.

The home begins with a stunning entry that features plaster walls hand-painted by Jay Iarussi, the original iron stair railing and curved staircase, and hardwood walnut flooring.

The formal living room has plaster walls, a woodburning fireplace with a marble mantel, wideplank wood flooring, and garden views from the original metal doors and windows that have been restored.

Plaster walls, hardwood floors and views of the gardens and pool highlight the huge formal dining room.

The spacious butler’s pantry, which is located just off the dining room, includes a honed-limestone countertop, a deep metal sink and plenty of storage.

Blum described the European-style “eat-in” kitchen as well-designed with wonderful views of the gardens. The kitchen has hardwood floors, a hand-forged silver sink, and plenty of work and storage space. Just off the kitchen is a breakfast room or morning room.

Surrounded by large windows, the garden room or sun room off the kitchen is highlighted by limestone flooring and expansive outdoor views.

There is a full bath on the first floor that serves as a pool bath and showcases a limestone floor and a custom-designed metal sink.

A study with built- ins, a huge family room that has a wet bar behind antique doors and amazing outdoor views, a sitting room with a fireplace and built-ins, a formal powder room, an incredible master suite, and spacious secondary bedrooms are among the many additional highlights of the home.

Outside, the incredible grounds are enhanced by a pool that is gated and a guest house or quarters over the three-car garage.

Blum said that approval for a Historic designation and the Protected Landmark Designation are pending for 3311 Del Monte.

With a total of four or five bedrooms and 4½ baths, the home is priced at $8,500,000.
