-

Remnants of Hurricane Blanca caused local flooding over Mexico’s Baja peninsula before triggering locally heavy rain in the U.S. Southwest. Blanca became the second of only two major hurricanes on record to form in the eastern Pacific before the end of June. Flash floods were expected in parts of Oman late in the week as Cyclone Ashobaa moved ashore from the Arabian Sea. The rare tropical storm-force cyclone also generated hazardous seas in the world’s busiest shipping lanes for oil tankers, just outside the Strait of Hormuz. capital of Athens as well as in Nepal, Chile and Oklahoma.
