PRESIDIO LA BAHÍA When: 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. daily, except New Year’s, Easter, Thanksgivi­ng and Christmas Where: U.S. 183 (77A), Goliad Tickets: $1-$4 (accommodat­ions are $212.50 per night); 361-645-3752; presidiola­bahia.org The presidio is the only surviving example of a Spanish Colonial mission/ presidio complex in Texas. Outside the presidio is the birthplace of Gen. Ignacio Seguín Zaragoza, a Mexican national hero. Near the Fannin Monument is a statue dedicated to Francita Alavez, the “Angel of Goliad,” who is credited with saving the lives of several of the men at Goliad. Inside the fort are the graves of Augustus William Magee, an army officer behind the GutiérrezM­agee Expedition, who died at the fort in 1813, and Annie L. Taylor. Taylor’s grave inside the chapel courtyard is the only marked resting spot, but there are other unmarked graves in that area.
