Bridgeland remains committed to Benefit Homes Project
A lot shortage in the Houston area has not deterred Bridgeland from donating one of its premier homesites for the annual Greater Houston Builders Association Benefit Homes Project.
This is the fifth homesite Bridgeland has donated for this 35-year-old GHBA fundraiser. Since the Benefit Homes Project began, more than $9 million has been raised.
The community’s developer, the Howard Hughes Corp., donated a lot in the Beech Creek section of Hidden Creek. Perry Homes recently completed construction on its 3199W E-70 Plan and the home is now open to visitors.
Each year, two homes are built for this GHBA fundraiser with donated materials, labor and services by GHBA members. The homes are sold at market value and the majority of the proceeds go to three local charities, Texas Children’s Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston.
“The funds raised go toward improving the lives of so many,” said Toy Wood, CEO of the GHBA. “We are very fortunate that Perry Homes joined the Benefit Homes team with the construction of its popular two-story design, and in a community that has received numerous awards. Bridgeland is one of the fastest-growing communities around.”
About Bridgeland
Bridgeland, an 11,400-acre community managed by The Woodlands Development Co., was launched in 2006. It devotes 3,000 acres to open space and includes a strong retail component — including a 900-acre town center along the Grand Parkway — in its master plan.
Bridgeland, ranked among the nation’s 20 top-selling communities, is located in Cypress, between U.S. 290 and I-10 on Fry Road and bisected by a segment of Grand Parkway.
Hidden Creek will introduce an extensive list of amenities, including Lakeland Village Park, a 20-acre green space that will feature an enclosed dog park, a basketball court, canoe launch and a skate park.
Additional tennis courts, picnic areas, walking trails and pavilions are planned, as well as a splash pad, playground, a year-round heated lap pool and Josey Lake, an expansive waterway that runs along the perimeter of Hidden Creek.
A groundbreaking is scheduled July 8 for the second GHBA Benefit home for 2015. Castletree Homes is building a Benefit home in the new community of Miramesa, a Canyon Gate community.
Castletree is donating construction management and Land Tejas Cos., the community developer, donated the homesite. This is the 14th donation by Land Tejas Cos. in the history of the fundraiser.
