Perry nabs vendor donations for GHBA fundraiser
When the call went out to area vendors by Perry Homes for donations of materials and labor to help build a Benefit Homes Project home, dozens of companies came forward with generous contributions.
These contributions include everything from the dirt work, foundation, framing, roofing and even the title fees, to name a few.
Perry has completed recently completed a Benefit home for the 2015 Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) fundraiser. When the home sells, the majority of the proceeds will benefit Texas Children’s Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston. The fundraiser has raised over $9 million since it began 35 years ago.
Perry constructed its twostory 3199W E-70 plan on a homesite in the Beech Creek section of Hidden Creek in Bridgeland. Bridgeland’s developer, the Howard Hughes Corp., donated the homesite.
“The backbone of this 35-yearold charity is a combination of our generous builders, developers, and of course, the vendors,” said Peter Houghton, chairman of this GHBA fundraiser. “Without the vendors, these beautiful, luxurious homes would not be built to benefit three important charities.”
Companies stepping up to join the Perry team included A& R Engineering & Testing Inc., A.H.I. Supply L.P., A.R.C.I. Ltd., Best Ready Mix, BMC West Corp., Buchanan’s Marble & Tile, Builders First Source South Texas L.P., Sea Gull Lighting, Fashion Glass & Mirrors, Garland Insulating, General Electric, Carrier Corp., A Division of UTC, Cast Fireplaces Inc., CertainTeed Corp., Cobra Stone Inc., ConnectOne Security, Crawford Electric Supply Company Inc., Delta Faucet, and Dickey Manufacturing.
“Perry Homes is honored to partner with Howard Hughes Corp., the GHBA and our vendors on our first Benefit home in Bridgeland,” said Kathy P. Britton, Perry Homes CEO. “Our company has a longstanding commitment to giving back to the communities in which we build. The charitable organizations that will benefit from this project are all vitally important in the effort to improve the lives of those facing real life challenges.”
Perry’s 3199W offers a dramatic two-story entry with a showcase circular staircase and a large family room with a window wall for added natural light. The formal dining room and a large library include hardwood floors and French doors. The kitchen becomes the heart of the home with its built-in seating, an angled island for added work space and a walk-in pantry.
The private master suite offers architectural features such as a curved wall of windows. The master bath includes a garden tub, a separate glassenclosed shower, dual sinks, a linen closet and two large walkin closets.
The secondary bedrooms, a Hollywood bathroom, a game room and an unfinished storage room complete the second floor. The home is at 17106 Lumberton Drive.
A second Benefit home is being built by Castle tree Homes in the new Canyon Gate Community of Miramesa off Fry Road near U.S. 290. Miramesa is building its 3,000-square-foot, two-story 4540D Plan. Construction begins in July.
