Andromicha­e (Michae) Stathakis

of Houston, Texas, died peacefully on June 25, 2015 at the age of 86. She was born on February 23, 1929, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Michae graduated from Hot Springs High School, then attended Henderson State College. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Henderson State College. In 1962, Michae married Louis Pete Stathakis. Michae and Louis lived in Hempstead for a short time and then moved to Houston where Michae taught elementary school. She retired in 1988 after thirty seven years of service. Michae and Louis were faithful members of The Annunciati­on Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She belonged to Daughters of Penelope and had served as president, secretary, and Priestess Warden. She was also an active member of the Senior Citizens Group. Profession­ally, Michae belonged to Alpha Delta Kappa and served as secretary. She also was a member of Houston Area Retired Teachers and Life Enrichment of Houston. Michae enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and volunteeri­ng in the church office. People of all ages adored and cherished Michae. She showed interest in their needs and trials and put hers aside. Her friendly and caring way made others feel important and loved. Michae was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Michel Caristiano­s, beloved husband Louis Pete Stathakis, her sisters Haricklia and Mary McCafferty and her brother George Caristiano­s. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary Frances McCafferty Brown and husband Jim, Nancy Caristiano­s Cummings and late husband Larry Cummings, Rollin Caristiano­s and wife Mary, Carolyn Caristiano­s Russell and husband John, Rebecca Caristiano­s Kaczenski and husband Greg, and Rosemary Caristiano­s Scherer and husband Dave , Crissie Baines and family, many great nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30th in the main chapel of Forest Park Westheimer with a Trisagion at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on July 1st at Annunciati­on Greek Orthodox Cathedral. 3511 Yoakum Blvd. Houston, Tx 77006.
