Local celebs model for the Women’s Home
A colorful crowd poured into the Wortham Theater Center for the Women’s Home’s sixth annual reNew and reDo Fashion Show. Sequined minidresses and embellished sport coats filled the performing arts center’s grand foyer as some 500 attendees made a beeline for the soiree’s signature pop-up boutique.
Guests scoured racks upon racks lined with vintage Chanel, Christian Dior and Gucci fashions, sourced from the nonprofit’s Cottage Shop in Montrose, before taking their seats for the main event.
Emcee Lily Jang led the charge by introducing a network of notable models as they strutted down the runway, including Nancy Almodovar, Shawntell McWilliams and Michael Pearce. The 10-part trend presentation produced by Lenny Matuszewski and Tamara Bonar featured a mix of emerging and established brands with a section spotlighting local menswear retailer Lucho. During the “fashion icon” portion of the program, Elaine Turner, Theresa Roemer and Carrie Colbert received special recognition as they hit the catwalk; Joanne King Herring closed the show with a standing ovation.
Afterward, the shopping resumed. In total, the affair co-chaired by Mandy Kao and Sneha Merchant raised more than $130,000.
Spotted in the crowd: Matt Burrus, Ajay Khurana, Yasmine Haddad, Karina Barbieri, Varda Dror Fields, Susanne Glasscock, Harriet Hart, Janice Hall, Deborah Duncan, Marie Dang and Nancy Dang.
