Charles Philip “Chuck” Loucks

Charles Philip “Chuck” Loucks passed away the 16th of August 2015. He was born the 27th of July 1922 in Gloversvil­le, New York to Milton and Catharine Loucks. He served in the US Army during WW II, earned a Mechanical Engineerin­g degree from MIT in 1947 and married Lenore “Dee” DeWall in 1950. They moved from Chicago to Houston in 1962 where he managed IMC Drilling Mud, a new division of Internatio­nal Minerals & Chemicals. After the sale of that entity to Halliburto­n in 1968, Chuck led IMCO Services as CEO and became a member of the board of directors on Halliburto­n until his departure in 1977.

Over that period of time, Chuck built IMCO from a startup into the second largest drilling fluids company in the world. He then joined Galveston Houston Company and became President of their Fluid Services division (DS Fluid Services). Over the last five years of his profession­al career, he led and owned DL Mud until his retirement in 1994.

Chuck was a board member of River Oaks Country Club, enjoyed golf and skiing and was well-traveled.

He is survived by his first wife, Lenore; children, Ellen Loucks and her husband, Walter Vorfeld, Catharine Loucks Mullett, James Loucks and his wife, Elizabeth and Susan Loucks; seven grandchild­ren; and two great grandchild­ren. The family wishes to thank his caregivers at Belmont Village, especially Anabelle Flores, for their help during his six year residency there.

The family cordially invites friends to a reception honoring Chuck’s life on Thursday, the 27th of August from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, in Houston. A private family inurnment and memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.
