Contemporary Museum District home showcases open design

- By Lisa Zapalac

A private courtyard entry leads to this contemporary-style new construction by On Point Custom Homes in the Rice/Museum District area.

Listing agent Leah Leggett with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Anderson Properties says the home has an open concept floor plan that is ideal for everyday living and entertaining.

The two-story home at 1737 Banks features polished concrete floors, an abundance of natural light and more than 4,200 square feet of living space.

Opening to a front courtyard, the spacious study has room for a work space and sitting area. The formal dining room has views of the back yard via a bank of windows.

The kitchen, which Leggett refers to as the heart of the home, is open to a living area and offers quartz countertops, Thermador appliances including a Thermador sixburner range with griddle and double ovens, customdesigned cabinets, and a large L-shaped island that includes breakfast bar seating.

Surrounded by expansive windows and views of the backyard, the living area has oversized slidingglass doors that open to the covered veranda, creating a seamless connection to the outdoors and a great flow for entertaining.

Upstairs are all of the home’s bedrooms and a large game room that has a dry bar with a beverage center.

A gallery hallway leads to the private master retreat with a private, separate sitting area, hardwood floors, prewiring for surround sound and a floorto-ceiling stone fireplace.

The master bathroom is spa-like in its design and features a double vanity, quartz countertops, a huge closet, and a large wet area with a freestanding soaking tub and separate shower.

Additional highlights in the home include an elevator shaft and second-floor utility room.

Outside, the covered veranda is a versatile and inviting living/entertaining area that includes a stone fireplace, and pre-wiring for sound and a television.

With a total of four bedrooms and 3½ baths, this home is priced at $1,650,000.
