Greenwood King Properties’ Sharon Brier co-chaired The Houston Chapter of Hadassah 11th Women of Courage Awards Luncheon recently at the Westin Galleria Hotel.

Women from across the city came to honor Linda Freedman Block, a multi-level Hadassah leader who has dealt with important issues in the community and has gone the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of others.

Brier and co-chair Randee Kaplan of Traditional Title donned boas and tiaras at the queen-themed event as they gave the crowd a royal welcome.

Block spoke about how she learned by example, from her parents and grandparents, about the importance of serving her community.

Tying in with Hadassah’s theme of sisterhood, keynote speaker and bestselling author Jill Conner Browne took the crowd on a humorous journey about how she came to be the “Sweet Potato Queen,” with books and a play of the same name, and her mantra of “do what makes your heart sing.” She inspired the crowd to “be the queen of whatever you choose.”
