CHICAGO CUBS

The Cubs activated catcher Miguel Montero from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday and designated outfielder Ryan Kalish for assignment. Montero had been sidelined by lower back tightness.

CLEVELAND INDIANS

The club placed out- fielder Michael Brantley on the 15-day DL because he’s still having issues with his surgically repaired right shoulder.

The team made the move Saturday, retroactive to May 10.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS

OF Ryan Braun was a late scratch from the lineup Saturday night against San Diego because of a sore right wrist.

Braun is hitting .367 with seven homers and 27 RBIs. His 12-game hitting streak was snapped Friday night.

TAMPA BAY RAYS

2B Logan Forsythe was placed on the 15-day DL after tests revealed a hairline fracture of his left shoulder blade.

The move is retroactive to May 10, when Forsythe was hit on the shoulder by a pitch from Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners. He has not played since then, but the Rays considered the shoulder only sore until Saturday’s MRI revealed the slight fracture.

Forsythe is hitting .308 and leads Rays regulars in hits (33), walks (14) and slugging percentage (.523).

TEXAS RANGERS

The team signed righthander Kyle Lohse to a minor league contract.

Lohse, 37, was assigned to Class AAA Round Rock on Saturday and is expected to make his first start within a few days.

Lohse went 5-13 with a 5.85 ERA for the Milwaukee Brewers last year.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS

The team picked up the contract option for Mike Rizzo that keeps the president of baseball operations and general manager with the club through the 2018 season.
