BALTIMORE ORIOLES

C Matt Wieters was placed on paternity leave.

Wieters left the team Saturday to join his wife, Maria, who is due to give birth to the couple’s second child.

CINCINNATI REDS

INF Jose Peraza was recalled from Class AAA Louisville, and RHP Keyvius Sampson was optioned to the Bats.

Peraza was in the starting lineup at shortstop for Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He joined RF Scott Schebler as two former Dodgers prospects in the lineup against the team they made their major league debuts last season.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS

The club put 3B Yunel Escobar on the seven-day concussion list, a day after he fouled a bunt off his face.

The Angels brought up one of their top prospects, INF Kaleb Cowart, from Class AAA Salt Lake City.

The Angels also designated 2B Johnny Giavotella for assignment and reinstated 1B C.J. Cron from the disabled list. Cron had surgery to repair a bone in his left hand on July 14.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES

3B Jung Ho Kang was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder injury.

Kang will likely miss two to four weeks after being injured sliding head first into second base in the eighth inning of Pittsburgh’s 6-5 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday.

Pittsburgh recalled 1B/ OF Josh Bell from Class AAA Indianapol­is.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

The club has set its rotation ahead of a pivotal three-game set against the Dodgers this week, with the trio of Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto and Matt Moore to start the series, which begins Tuesday.

TEXAS RANGERS

LHP Derek Holland, who hasn’t pitched for the club since June 20 because of shoulder soreness, threw another bullpen session Saturday.

Manager Jeff Bannister is “leaning towards having him make his start (Tuesday) in Cincinnati.”
