Chesmar Homes to break ground for GHBA charity in Elyson

-

Chesmar Homes is breaking ground on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. to launch construction of its 2017 Greater Houston Builders Association Benefit Homes Project home in the new community of Elyson.

This a 37-year-old fundraiser of the GHBA that benefits two local charities, HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home (OFH).

Chesmar is donating construction management of its 2,733-square-foot Poplar plan and Newland Communities donated the homesite.

Each year, two homes are built for the project with donated materials, labor and services. The homes include numerous upgrades and amenities and are sold at market value. Since the fundraiser began, nearly $10 million has been raised.

The home in Elyson will be the fifth Benefit home built by Chesmar, and this will be the second lot donated by Newland Communities.

Elyson is the fifth and newest community in the Katy Independent School District by Newland Communities.

Located at Grand Parkway and FM 529, approximately midway between I-10 west and U.S. 290 west, the 3,642-acre community will be home to 6,000 homeowners and 750 acres of recreational amenities and natural open spaces when completed.

Chesmar was founded in 2005 by Houston-area industry professionals, building homes in communities like Cinco Ranch and The Woodlands. With success under its belt in Houston, a Central Texas division was added in 2009 and soon Chesmar became a leader in both market areas.

With those foundations in place, the leadership of Chesmar Homes pressed to establish operations in Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin.

“The team of Chesmar Homes and Newland Communities is combination of two professional organizations committed to providing a superior quality of life,” said Will Holder, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project. “This groundbreaking is the first big milestone on the road to the construc- tion of a beautiful home that, when sold, will benefit so many.”
