Baylor’s winning streak hits 21

LUBBOCK — After a first half in which 6-7 Kelani Brown was limited to two points because of foul trouble, Texas Tech was hanging within reach of No. 2 Baylor.

Brown found her form in the second half, finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Bears’ 79-61 victory over the Red Raiders on Saturday.

Kristy Wallace scored 15 points and Nina Davis added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Baylor.

It is the third consecutiv­e season in which Baylor (23-1, 12-0 Big 12), winners of 21 straight, has had a win streak of at least 20 games.

The No. 12 Longhorns won their 16th consecutiv­e game as Joyner Holmes scored 21 points in a victory over the Wildcats in Austin.

Texas (18-4 and 12-0) set up a matchup of Big 12 unbeatens when the Longhorns visit No. 2 Baylor on Monday.

Freshman guard Angela Harris scored 19 points as the Cougars beat the Pirates at Greenville, N.C.

Jacqueline Blake (16 points), Kierra Graves (14) and Jasmyne Harris (13) also scored in double figures for the Cougars (9-14, 2-8).

No. 18 Oklahoma’s post players pestered Cowgirls center Kaylee Jensen just enough to help the Sooners hang on.

Jensen, the Big 12’s leader in scoring and rebounding, had 17 points and 15 rebounds, but made just 7 of 23 shots and committed seven turnovers in the Sooners’ win at Stillwater, Okla..

Gabbi Ortiz scored 17 points for the Sooners.

The Mean Green rallied from a 17-point thirdquart­er deficit to force overtime and defeat the Owls at Rice.

Five Rice players scored in double-figures, led by 15 points from Shani Rainey.

The Owls (12-9, 3-7) suffered their first loss of the season (11-1) when leading by 10 or more points.

Joyce Kennerson had a game-high 21 points and Artavia Ford collected 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Tigers defeated the Panthers 73-51 in a SWAC game at the H&PE Arena.

Shamiya Brooks added 12 points for TSU (14-7, 8-2).
