Chesmar vendors donate to GHBA Benefit home
The new community of Elyson in west Houston is the site for the newest Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit home that is being built by Chesmar Homes. Newland Communities, the developer of Elyson, donated the homesite.
GHBA members that include vendors and trades are donating their materials and services to the home’s construction. Without these donations, these Benefit Homes would not be possible. Vendors donating to Chesmar’s home include Boral Building Products, GE Applicances, Builders First Choice, Lanehart Electric, Hy-Tech Plumbing Contractors, Rock Materials, AHI Supply and Owens Corning.
“The incredible generosity of these builders, developers, vendors and trades continues to define the integrity of the Houston homebuilding industry,” said Will Holder, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project. “Most of them have donated multiple times, and they always come back to take part.”
These donations have insured that construction is well underway on Chesmar’s 2,733-squarefoot Poplar plan. When the home is sold at market value, proceeds will be presented to HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. Since the fundraiser began 37 years ago, nearly $10 million has been raised.
The home in Elyson will be the fifth Benefit Home built by Chesmar Homes and this will be the second lot donated by Newland Communities.
The two-story Poplar home plan is from Chesmar’s Arbor Collection and features four bedrooms and three full baths. The home’s common areas are an open design. Two bedrooms located on the second floor and a game room provides plenty of space for all to enjoy.
The first-floor master suite with its bath and walk-in closet offers convenience as well as privacy. This home design also includes a secondary bedroom on the first floor with a full bath. The home has a covered rear patio and a two-car garage.
The interior also features a fireplace with an Alder mantel, iron stairway spindles, granite countertops in the kitchen and the baths, stainless-steel appliances, under cabinet lighting and overhead pendant lighting in the kitchen. There are wood floors in the entry, family room, dining room and the stairs. The exterior is a combination of brick and stone.
“Chesmar’s vendors are loyal to not only Chesmar Homes, but to their community. We can’t thank them enough for all they do every year.”
Elyson is the fifth and newest community in the Katy Independent School District by Newland Communities, the private developer of planned residential and urban mixed-use communities in the United States.
Located at Grand Parkway and FM 529, approximately midway between I-10 West and U.S. 290 West, this 3,642-acre community will be home to 6,000 families and 750 acres of recreational amenities and natural open spaces when completed.
