Agent leads theater group fundraiser for arts, children
Greenwood King Properties’ Heidi Dugan cochaired “Texas Children: Our Greatest Treasure!” a joint fundraiser benefitting Main Street Theater and its partner organization, Children at Risk held earlier this month was held at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston.
Dugan’s co-chairs were Kara Greenwood Gross and Adam Gross, and Drs. Hilary Suzawa and Daniel Lemke. Children at Risk cochairs were Jennifer and Lance Gilliam, Karen and Bill Shields, Suzanne Starley, and Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Steves. The pirate-themed evening included food by Houston’s finest chefs and a celebrity-studded performance by Main Street Theater.
For more than 40 years, the theater has brought children’s literature to life on stage. Children at Risk uses research, public policy, education, collaboration and advocacy to focus attention on childcentered issues.
“My own children have been involved in theater and the arts since they were very young,” Dugan said. “I appreciate what Main Street Theater and Children at Risk do for children of all ages and income levels.”
John Daugherty, Realtors and The Tasting Room hosted two soirees in support of their month-long clothing drive benefitting Dress for Success Houston. The Tasting Room Uptown and City Center locations were the place to be as John Daugherty, Realtors agents, friends and associates turned out to donate gently worn, professional attire.
Wine, complimentary appetizers and a great cause proved to be a winning combination for both events and helped establish the best results to date in the company’s annual effort in support of women facing challenges entering or re-entering the workforce.
Leann Salmons ,a broker at Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty, and her husband, Philip, recently decked out in style for the Putting on the Ritz themes attended Oak Forest Elementary’s Gala & Auction. She sells homes, lives and raised her children in the in the Oak Forest area. Her familiarity with the community came in handy as she served the event auction as a paddle supporter — greeting each bid with a familiar smile, encouragement and the ability to recognize all under pressure.
Rita Santamaria of Champions School of Real Estate said she found Tim Kopra — a veteran of more than 250 days aboard the space station — quite down to earth. The CEO met astronaut at the Texas Children’s Hospital event last week, which raised contributions to the Neurological Research Institute.
Earlier in the week, Santamaria interviewed two Champions grads — broker Nimesh Patel, owner of REMAX Fine Properties Sugar Land, and Jennifer Hansen ,of Keller Williams Premier in Katy — sharing their different experiences and perspective on the new Champions Live! broadcast network. Patel is a longtime leader in the real estate community, while Hansen is a two-year agent who had 20 transactions her first year in real estate.
