American Robotics Academy: What does it take to create a remote-controlled robot that can walk, drive and turn in any direction? Reach out for, grab, throw or release objects on command? Move and act as you design and build them to? Imaginatio­n, technology, teamwork and a whole lot of fun. Working in teams, they’ll teach you how to design, build and test remote-controlled, miniature robots. Your robot will compete with other robots in your class in a friendly competitio­n. All necessary materials, including motors, gears, pulleys, wheels and axles, and microcompu­ters will be available for student use. Artwalk 2017: Each year fine artists from all over Texas and beyond descend upon the picturesqu­e small town square of Fayettevil­le to show and sell the very best of their creations. 2017 Clear Lake Greek Festival: For 24 years, the Clear Lake Greek Festival has brought a touch of Greece straight to the Clear Lake area. The highlights of the festival include Greek food, pastries, music, dancing and shopping. Clear Lake Toga Fun Run: It’s time to pull out the toga. St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church presents the sixth annual Toga Fun Run. The Kids 1K will begin promptly at 8 a.m., while the 5K run will begin immediatel­y following the 1K. The route will begin at Clear Lake Park, go through the Clear Lake Forest subdivisio­n, up Kirby to NASA Parkway and finish back at the park. St. John Theologian Greek Orthodox Church will be donating half of the race proceeds to the Boys and Girls Harbor in La Porte.
