Insperity, a human resources consulting firm, was the only company to retain its top-five rank from last year among publicly traded companies on the Chron 100.

The Kingwood-based company, which operates 60 offices nationwide, came in at No. 4 for 2016 with an additional $3 million in annual revenue. It’s total annual revenues grew to $2.9 billion in 2016.

Paul Sarvadi, the company’s chairman and CEO, said two key factors allowed Insperity to retain a top position: Customer retention and the addition of business advisers.

“Our continuing success is a function of strong demand among our clients and strong execution by our advisers,” Sarvadi said. “We continued to add business-performance advisers and we were able to retain our clients, which is a great combination.”

Sarvadi said Insperity added 50 business performance advisers last year, bringing the total number to 400. The annual growth rate for its advising staff ranges from 12 to 14 percent.

Additionally, the firm’s full-service workforce optimization clients, which is the company’s core business, now number 7,000. More than 100,000 companies nationwide avail themselves of one or more of the company’s products.

“Another factor that has contributed to our growth is our investment in human-resources technology,” Sarvadi said. “We continue to improve our offerings in this area, and we lead the industry in terms of new technology.”

Insperity’s revenues grew by 13 percent last year; it experienced a 95.6 percent earnings per share growth; and its total return reached 49.5 percent, which combined to place it among the top five publicly traded companies on the Chronicle 100.

The company debuted in 1986 with a single office and two employees. Today, Insperity employs more than 2,200 staff members at its corporate office in Kingwood.
