By allowing 2nd-half goals, it’s clear road woes remain Dynamo update

-

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Just when it seemed like the Dynamo were making positive strides in their road form, they took a nasty tumble.

Marlon Hairston scored two second-half goals to give the last-place Colorado Rapids a 3-1 win over the Dynamo on Saturday night.

His winning goal broke a 1-1 halftime tie less than three minutes into the second half. He scored again in the 69th minute.

The Dynamo (7-7-4) fell to 0-7-2 on the road. Though they hadn’t won, they had played well in their previous two games away from home and had reason to believe their road woes would end soon. Torres nears record

On Saturday, they outshot Colorado 13-9 and held a 55-45 advantage in possession but lacked a strong finishing touch.

Forward Erick Torres gave the Dynamo hope when he scored on the last play of the first half to tie the game. He stuck his leg around defender Mike da Fonte to kick a crossing pass from A.J. DeLaGarza between the legs of goalkeeper Tim Howard.

It is Torres’ 12th goal, putting him one away from tying Brian Ching’s club record for goals in a single season. Taking the lead

Colorado took the lead in the 21st minute through Kevin Doyle. Outside the box, Dominique Badji stabbed at the ball to hit it by Dynamo defender A.J. DeLaGarza. Dillon Serna ran onto it wide open and hit a low centering pass to Doyle near the penalty spot for an easy finish.

The Rapids nearly doubled their lead in the 32nd minute through Serna. Serna was all alone dribbling into the box when Dynamo goalkeeper Joe Willis came off his line to block his shot. Saturday: Rapids 3, Dynamo 1. Record: 7-7-4. Wednesday: Montreal Impact at BBVA Compass Stadium, 7:30 p.m. TV/radio: KUBE 57; 650 AM, 1010 AM (Spanish).
