Gymboree to close 12 Texas stores, including 3 locally

Gymboree will close three stores in the Houston market as part of a restructur­ing. The local stores, among a dozen slated to close in Texas, are at River Oaks Shopping Center on West Gray, Village Arcade on University Boulevard and Pearland Town Center. The closings are among 350 planned by Gymboree Corp., most under the Gymboree and Crazy 8 flags.

American Eagle Outfitters has signed a 8,196-square-foot lease with MetroNatio­nal for a new Aerie store at Memorial City Mall. Danna Diamond, MetroNatio­nal’s vice president of retail leasing, represente­d the landlord. The store sells pajamas, lingerie and swimwear for girls and young women.

Board & Brush Creative Studios Franchise has leased a location in Pecan Plaza at 2883-A Dulles Ave., Missouri City. The studio will offer workshops and private parties for creating wood signs and other decor projects. Shaffer Braun and Jason Gaines of NAI Partners represente­d the landlord, SGRE Pecan Plaza.

Car Talk has leased a freestandi­ng building at 5211 Spruce in Bellaire for an automotive repair shop. The landlord, Carl Gustav LLC, was represente­d by Mark Kidd Sr. and Mark Kidd Jr. of M Kidd Properties. Car Talk will be near the new Bellaire H-E-B, which is under constructi­on.

Brazilian Jujitsu will open a 2,615-square-foot location in Fairfield Plaza, 15103 Mason Road, in Cypress. William McCarthy of Finial Group represente­d the tenant, Joaquin Garay. The landlord is Mishael Radom.

Seattle-based Mod Pizza plans to open locations in Bay Colony, Kingwood East, Springwood­s Village, Deer Park, Westchase and Tomball by year-end. Grant Walker and Chris Reyes of Transweste­rn handle leasing for the chain, which has grown to 17 area locations since first opening in Houston in 2014. The newest stores, ranging from 2,500 to 3,200 square feet each, are in the Marketplac­e in Clear Lake, The Market at Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear, Indian Springs Shopping Center in The Woodlands, Sawyer Heights, Easton Commons in Copperfiel­d, Westlake Marketplac­e in Summerwood, Parkway Commons in League City and Fairfield Town Center in Cypress.
