Bowman, BC hand No. 1 Duke first loss

BOSTON — Ky Bowman scored 30 points, adding 10 rebounds and nine assists to help Boston College upset No. 1 Duke 89-84 on Saturday, the first loss of the season for the Blue Devils.

Boston College (7-3, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) got 23 points from Jordan Chatman.

Gary Trent Jr. scored 25 for Duke (11-1, 0-1 ACC).

The Blue Devils erased a 10-point deficit and led 79-75 with 3:30 to play. Duke’s Trevon Duvall drove to the basket to make it 83-81 with 31 seconds left, but was called for an intentiona­l foul. Chatman made both free throws, then was fouled again and made two more. A 3-pointer by Trent made it 87-84, but Jerome Robinson hit free throws to ice it.

The Eagles finished last in the ACC the last two seasons.

“I told these guys how fortunate they were because there’s a lot of guys playing college basketball who are in great programs that will never get a chance to play the No. 1 team in the nation at home,” BC coach Jim Christian said. “For them, individual­ly, (it’s a) lifetime memory.” FLORIDA 66 CINCINNATI 60

Chris Chiozza and the No. 5 Gators snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the No. 17 Bearcats at Newark, N.J.

Chiozza put the Gators (6-3) ahead 62-60 with a basket with 1:12 to play. He added two free throws and a layup after a turnover by Cincinnati (7-2). WICHITA ST. 78 OKLAHOMA ST. 66

Landry Shamet scored a career-high 30 points, as the No. 6 Shockers won at Stillwater, Okla.

Conner Frankamp scored 14 for WSU (8-1). Tavarius Shine led the Cowboys (7-2) witb 20. WEST VIRGINIA 69 PITTSBURGH 60

Jevon Carter scored 19 points as the No. 19 Mountainee­rs won at Pittsburgh.

Miles Bridges, Nick Ward and Jaren Jackson each scored 17 points to lead the No. 3 Spartans. ARKANSAS 95 MINNESOTA 79

Jaylen Barford scored 22 points as the Razorbacks downed the No. 14 Golden Gophers.

The victory is the first for the Razorbacks (7-2) over a top 15 team since beating No. 5 Texas A&M during the 2015-16 season. KENTUCKY 93 MONMOUTH 76

Freshman guard Hamidou Diallo scored 23 points as the No. 8 Wildcats won at New York.
