Russia banned from Winter Games
Russia was banned Tuesday from the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea over the country’s “systemic manipulation” of anti-doping rules in the most wideranging punishment ever meted out by the International Olympic Committee on a participating nation, let alone a powerhouse of the Olympic movement.
Russian athletes who can prove they are “clean” are invited to compete as neutral athletes, the IOC said. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the nation will not boycott the Olympics.
