Tech defeats TCU to close Big 12 play; Baylor suffers loss

LUBBOCK — Keenan Evans scored 23 points, and No. 12 Texas Tech stopped a four-game losing streak with a 79-75 win over TCU in the teams’ Big 12 regularsea­son finale Saturday.

Evans had his first double-digit scoring game since a toe injury that sidelined him at halftime of a loss to Baylor that started the skid when the Red Raiders (23-8, 11-7) were in sole possession of the Big 12 lead.

Desmond Bane scored 21 points for the Horned Frogs (21-10, 9-9), who had their first four-game conference winning streak in 20 years stopped.

Dean Wade scored 25 points, Barry Brown scored 18, and the Wildcats beat the Bears in Manhattan, Kan.

Donte Clark scored 24 points, Marquis Salmon grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds, and the Tigers defeated the Braves in Lorman, Miss.

Salmon’s rebounding effort ties him with three other players for most rebounds in a game this season at the Division I level. He collared 12 defensive rebounds and the rest on the offensive end. He also scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
