Foundation features new name, same commitment to finding a cure

-

The Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation is announcing its new name: the Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation.

As the foundation has evolved and grown over the years, it looks to the future with a new name and logo that more clearly emphasize its purpose and identity.

In 2001, Nancy Owens, a much loved and well-respected icon in the Houston real estate industry, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. One of Owens’ final wishes, had she survived her battle with cancer, was to dedicate a large part of her life to the fight against breast cancer and the continued advancement of its research toward finding a cure.

A group of fellow Realtors founded the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation to fulfill that wish. After 16 years and more than $2 million donated to local breast cancer research projects, the foundation has adopted a new name.

The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation is organized to fund quali- fied public charities that support education and research to find a cure for breast cancer while memorializing Owens’ life, the values by which she lived, and the courage with which she faced her battle with breast cancer.

The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation committee members are excited to continue working together to fund research in hopes of finding a cure one day.
