Folk art exhibit coming to The Woodlands March 21

An art maven’s weekly fix of the local arts scene: what to see, what to hear, what to do, who to meet and musings about how art makes people feel—their ArtFeel.

ArtSee: Sheri Hope’s “Spinning Train Wreck” folk art exhibit examines her past emotional pain to her current joyful liberation as a working artist at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at Crush Wine Lounge. Hope describes her painting style “as colorfully rebellious and unconventional, but intentional.” She will apply paint with almost any object (other than a brush) that will make a desired texture, design or imprint. The use of screws to apply paint has led to her trademark signature—a painted screw— which can be found (hidden or blatantly obvious) in many of her recent works. Her company name, One Day Won, echoes Hope’s philosophy about starting each day with a conscious choice to be positive and do good things. Her work can also be seen at The Market at Sawyer Yards in Houston throughout the year. www. thecrushbar.com.

ArtHear: Hal Ketchum’s music from his new album

“I’m the Troubador” at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 23, where he ditches the typical country vibe and returns to a more folk, blues and soul combo croon that had made him a regular in the 1990s at The Grand Old Opry. www. mainstreetcrossing.

ArtSupport: Local charities as Designer Divas cordially invites you to the First Annual Art N Fashion Show at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, at the new Glade Cultural Arts Center. This event is a New York fashion-themed show inspired by fine art from The Glade Arts Foundation benefiting Canopy, CASA, Glade Arts Foundation, Interfaith and Montgomery County Women’s Center. Missy Herndon, CEO of Interfaith and Elisabeth Stavinoha, Executive Director of Glade, are two of the models who will walk the runway representing their non-profit entity. Tickets available now at www. gladeculturalcenter.com/ glade-arts-foundation-artn-fashion-event.
