MARCH 20 CHILDREN’S SPRING WORKSHOPS

The Woodlands Children’s Museum’s is offering Spring Workshops on Tuesdays March 20-May 15. Spring Workshops include ARTistik Adventure where participan­ts will have the opportunit­y to create art with such mediums as collage, extended drawing, printmakin­g, papier-mâché, clay, recycled materials, watercolor­s and acrylic paint. Children ages 5 and 6 will meet from 9-11 a.m., and children ages 7 and 8 will meet from 1-3 p.m. ARTistik Adventure costs $89 for museum members and $109 for nonmembers.

All retired school personnel are invited to meet Wednesday, March 21, from 10-11:30 a.m. at The Woodlands Christian Church, 1202 N. Millbend Drive. The program will be ideas for “Travel Tips and Destinatio­ns.”

MARCH 22 ANNUAL BOOK SALE

From Thursday, March 22 to Saturday, March 24, South Montgomery County Friends of the Library (SMCFOL) will be holding their Annual Book Sale at the South County Community Center, 2235 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands. This year there will be thousands of books on offer for bargain prices. From fiction to non-

fiction, classics to children’s, foreign language materials to CDs and DVDs. All funds raised from the sale are used to support programs at the two Woodlands libraries, such as summer reading programs, children’s programs throughout the year, book clubs, display items, reference items etc. Sale times are First Choice Night on March 22 from 5-8 p.m. with a $5 donation; March 23 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and March 24 from 9 a.m.noon. There will be a 30 minute shut down which will be followed by a $2 bag sale running from 12:30-3 p.m.

ELUSIVE WOMEN GENEALOGY CLASS

The Klein Family History Center will host a class from 7-8:30 p.m. on March 22 discussing women and genealogy titled “Finding Your Female Ancestors.” The center is located at 16535 Kleinwood Drive, Spring. MCRW MEETING

The Montgomery County Republican Woman general meeting will begin with a social at 11 a.m. followed by the lunch and program at 11:30 a.m. on March 22 at River Plantation Golf Club. The program will feature Constable Ryan Gable (Pct. 3) and Debi Tengler, Chief Relations Officer for Arrow Child and Family Ministries who will discuss “Cyber Security & Human Traffickin­g in Montgomery County.” Lunch is optional but must be reserved by Monday, March 19. MARCH 23 LENTEN FISH FRY

The Knights of Columbus of St. Anthony of Padua Parish are offering a fish dinner on March 23 at 7801 Bay Branch Drive in the Woodlands. The fresh catfish fried dinner is $10 (curbside takeout or eat in available) and will be served from 5-7 p.m. The dinner includes two fillets, french fries, hush puppies, cole slaw and a drink. Desserts are available.

SOUTHERN STAR MUSIC LINEUP

The Friday Night Local Band Live Music Showcase at Southern Star Brewing Company will be from 6-9 p.m. on the Biergarten stage. Featured performanc­e will be Black Dog Friday, whose sound can best be described as progressiv­e southern rock and soul.
