MILDRED MARIE KEMPER

1914-2018

-

Mildred Marie Ramsey Kemper, beloved mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. She maintained a joyful attitude, a contented spirit, and a delightful sense of humor throughout her life. She lived the gospel, every day treating each person she met with love and respect. She was born on December 1, 1914 in Orlando, Oklahoma to John and Anna Ramsey.

Mildred married William Kemper in 1938 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where they lived and raised their family. They were happily married for 57 years. Her family and her church were always a priority in her life, and she took pleasure in studying genealogy. Mildred was a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church, past Regent of DAR, past State President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Women’s Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, past State Regent of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Magna Carta, Daughters of the Confederacy, and The Mayflower Society. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends and she treasured time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by her son, John Kemper of Houston, daughters Rosalie Majors and her husband Bill of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Nancy Best and her husband Randy of Dallas, Texas. She was the beloved grandmother to Audrey Seeliger and her husband Keith, Carey Sue Vega and her husband Ricky, Michael Crothers and his wife Maya, John Crothers, Virginia Trevino and her husband Xavier, and David Kemper; great-grandmother to Dodge Nichols, Billy Vega, Jenna and Josie Crothers, Michael and Sydney Crothers, and Amelia Trevino.

A woman of great faith, always loving, gracious and kind, she maintained a joyful attitude, and a delightful sense of humor. She loved to entertain and set a beautiful table, hosting teachers, ministers and friends for lunch and dinner. She was born with a kind heart and a social conscience, teaching her children the importance of giving back, and of being in a faith community, (ideally Presbyterian).

The family gives very special thanks to her loving caregivers who became part of her extended family; Diana, Gloria, Sandra and Ana. These strong, devoted women made sure she was well attended and never alone. We are so grateful to have had their support.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, William Kemper, April 1995, her sisters Mable Carey and Pearl Pruitt, brothers Homer and Jones Ramsey.

The family requests memorial donations be made to The Child Development Center, 2225 North Union, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601 where Mildred was involved for many years, or to the charity of your choice.
