ROBERT A. GRAY

1945-2018

-

Robert A. Gray, 73, passed away suddenly on June 4 in his hometown of Houston. Known best for his determined work ethic, relentless generosity, and unyielding loyalty, he will be sorely missed by the great many people whose lives he touched.

Bobby graduated from St. John’s School (’63), Williams College (‘67), and the University of Texas Law School (’69). He was a natural leader, mentor, and great friend, always putting others before himself and applying his mind-over-matter philosophy to every obstacle he encountered.

Throughout his life, he was an exceptional and goodnatured competitor at every sport he attempted, including tennis, marathon running, and scratch golf.

Of his many accomplishments, none mattered more to him than his family. In 1981, he married Rachael Kidd, the love of his life. Together they had three children--Kellen, Lindley, and Ian—and one grandchild, Elliott Elizabeth Anderson, all of whom he was immensely proud. They will miss his patient guidance and wicked sense of humor.

A Memorial Service will take place Monday, June 11th at 2PM at First Presbyterian Church on South Main Street.

In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family suggests donations be made to either First Presbyterian Church Houston or The Memorial Park Conservancy.
