Georgia clinches SEC East

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Georgia’s D’Andre Swift ran for a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns as the sixth-ranked Bulldogs defeated No. 9 Kentucky 34-17 to clinch the SEC East title.

“I think people had started doubting us,” Swift said. “We just tried to silence the critics.”

Swift had an 83-yard breakaway in the third quarter that gave Georgia (8-1, 6-1) a 28-3 lead. He also had a nifty 20-yard scoring run in the second period when the game was close.

Teammate Elijah Holyfield ran for a career-high 115 yards on 18 carries, scoring on a 4-yarder in the third quarter. Georgia rushed for a season-high 331 yards to earn a spot in the SEC championsh­ip game Dec. 1 against Alabama in Atlanta.

“They did a good job,” Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said. “They moved us. They made us miss. There’s a lot of things we could have done better, but a lot of that has to do with them.”

CLEMSON 77, LOUISVILLE 16

Travis Etienne ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns as the No. 2 Tigers won at home.

Clemson (6-0 Atlantic Coast Conference, No. 2 CFP) improved to 9-0 for the third time in four seasons and can wrap up their fourth ACC Atlantic Division title next week at Boston College.

Trevor Lawrence threw a pair of early touchdown passes.

MICHIGAN 42 PENN STATE 7

Shea Patterson accounted for three touchdowns and the No. 5 Wolverines put together a dominant performanc­e on defense.

The Wolverines (8-1, 6-0 Big Ten) moved a step closer toward their goals of winning a conference championsh­ip for the first time since 2004. The No. 14 Nittany Lions (6-3, 3-3) scored with 1:59 left, avoiding getting shut out for the first time since 2001.

NOTRE DAME 31 NORTHWESTE­RN 21

Ian Book threw for threw two touchdown passes and ran 23 yards for a score in the closing minutes to lead the No. 4 Fighting Irish at Evanston, Ill.

The Fighting Irish (9-0) remained in line for a playoff spot.

PURDUE 38, IOWA 36

Spencer Evans made a 25-yard field goal with 8 seconds left, lifting the host Boilermake­rs past the No. 16 Hawkeyes and back in the Big Ten’s West Division title hunt.

David Blough threw three touchdown passes to Terry Wright and topped the 300-yard mark for the fifth time this season. The Boilermake­rs (5-4, 4-2 Big Ten) have won five of their last six and beat their third ranked team this season — the first time they’ve achieved that feat since 2003 — to move within one game of division leader Northweste­rn.

The Hawkeyes (6-3, 3-3) lost their second straight road game.

OHIO ST. 36, NEBRASKA 31

J.K. Dobbins ran for three touchdowns and Dwayne Haskins Jr. passed for two more scores to help the No. 10 Buckeyes hold off the Cornhusker­s at Columbus, Ohio.

Before the late Nebraska score, Dobbins broke through the right side and romped for a 42-yard touchdown with 5 minutes left to give Ohio State (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) breathing room.

MISSOURI 38, FLORIDA 17

Drew Lock threw three touchdown passes to lead the Tigers in a win against the No. 11 Gators at Gainesvill­e, Fla.

Lock completed 24 of 32 passes for 250 yards, with scoring throws to Albert Okwuegbuna­m, Kam Scott and Emanuel Hall that stunned the Gators (6-3, 4-3 Southeaste­rn Conference). The Tigers (5-4, 1-4) picked up their first SEC win of the season.

ARIZONA ST. 38, UTAH 20

Manny Wilkins threw three touchdown passes to N’Keal Harry and the Wildcats knocked the No. 15 Utes out of sole possession of first place in Pac-12 South.

The Utes (6-3, 4-3 Pac-12) lost quarterbac­k Tyler Huntley to a broken collarbone in the third quarter. The loss snapped Utah’s four-game winning streak.

Arizona State (5-4, 3-3) gained 536 yards against a Utah defense that had been ranked No. 1 in the Pac-12.

SYRACUSE 41 WAKE FOREST 24

Eric Dungey rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown, Jarveon Howard ran for two scores and the No. 19 Orangemen won at Winston-Salem, N.C.

NORTH CAROLINA ST. 47 FLORIDA ST. 28

Ricky Person Jr. scored three touchdowns while Jakobi Meyers had a big receiving day to help the No. 21 Wolfpack beat the Seminoles at Raleigh, N.C.

BOSTON COLLEGE 31 VIRGINIA TECH 21

Travis Levy ran for two touchdowns and the No. 22 Eagles beat the Hokies at Blacksburg, Va MISSISSIPP­I ST. 45 LOUISIANA TECH 3

Nick Fitzgerald threw for 243 yards and four touchdowns as the No. 18 Bulldogs won at home.
