HomeAid receives support from GHBA Benefit project

-

HomeAid Houston, a 501(c)(3) charity sponsored by the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), provides remodeling and new construction support to qualified homeless care providers in Harris and the surrounding counties. To help make this happen, HomeAid receives support from the GHBA’s 38-yearold charity fundraiser, the Benefit Homes Project. This fundraiser is HomeAid’s largest contributor, having donated to HomeAid Houston more than $700,000 since 2007.

Each year two to three homes are built for the fundraiser with donated materials, labor and services by GHBA members. The homes are sold at market value and in 2018, proceeds benefit HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. The homes are constructed on donated homesites in prime communities and are finished out with numerous upgrades and amenities.

The Benefit Homes builders in 2018 are Highland Homes — that is nearing completion on their Windemere Plan in Balmoral; the homesite was donated by Land Tejas Cos — and Taylor Morrison, that has completed and sold their home in Grand Vista. Taylor Morrison built built its Rosebay plan. Each builder donated construction management.

“GHBA members continue to embrace HomeAid through what they do best — building and selling beautiful homes,” said Bill Dalton, president of HomeAid. “These inspiring companies and individuals understand that with their help, we are able to bring hope to our community’s most vulnerable populations. We can’t thank the builders, developers, vendors and trades enough for all they’ve done and continue to do for our cause.”

HomeAid partners with accomplished GHBA builders, remodelers, vendors and suppliers who donate up to 40 percent of the cost of construction of transformational housing to help men, women, children and veterans realize a brighter future.

HomeAid also offers support to smaller and/or newer agencies through its “HomeAid Care” program. This program offers agencies smaller remodeling projects for their existing buildings, in the $25,000 to $50,000 range. HomeAid performs three to four Care projects every year. The Benefit Homes Project also benefits a second charity of the GHBA, Operation Finally Home.
