Retail renovations
Project expected to usher in new restaurant, coffee tenants in the Heights.
Braun Enterprises has purchased a shopping center on North Shepherd at 10th in the Heights for its latest retail redevelopment.
The 18,506-square-foot property, at 1002 N. Shepherd across from Kroger, will be called Shepherd Row in the Heights.
The building was purchased from the original developer, Braun Enterprises director of leasing Zach Wolf said.
The property is a few blocks north of M-K-T, an office and retail redevelopment by Radom Capital and Triten Real Estate Partners on 12 acres at North Shepherd and 6th along the Heights Hike and Bike Trail.
The renovations, which will usher in tenants such as restaurants and coffee shops, are expected to take eight months. Any current tenants will remain open during construction, Wolf said.
The deal puts Braun Enterprises on track to complete 16 acquisitions in 2018.
The company is wrapping up a redevelopment of the historic Heights Waterworks, which will welcome its first tenants in January. Other projects include 2522 Yale, which has leased space to Bishops Barbershop, F45 and Ten Fold Coffee, and has upstairs office space. Work will start next year on redeveloping the Hickory Hollow restaurant building on Heights Boulevard near Washington Avenue.
Braun will soon start a redevelopment of 4602 Dacoma in northwest Houston. It is across from a major retail and apartment project planned by Fidelis Realty Partners on the former Exxon Mobil Brookhollow campus.
