LAURA LINN BRACE WARREN

1919-2018

-

Laura Linn Brace Warren, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, the 4th of December 2018, at her residence. She was born on the 2nd of October 1919, in Houston, TX to Charles Richard Brace and Bertha Elizabeth Buchanan Brace. She grew up in Houston, graduating from San Jacinto High School and The University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Returning to Houston after graduation, she worked for five years for American General Investment Corp., where she met her husband-to-be, Howard Lindsay Warren. After marrying him in 1946, they enjoyed 56 years of marriage before he passed away. She was a lifelong member of South Main Baptist Church and was actively involved in the church, especially the church nursery, before age-related challenges prevented her from continuing. Through the years, Laura Linn continued to be quite active in Alpha Phi Houston Alumnae, her children’s school activities and numerous friendship circles. She happily shared her various culinary and creative skills with others in many different capacities. Besides her children and the sorority, she was the most content when hosting gatherings in her home for friends and family.

Laura Linn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Beth Warren Richardson of Houston and her son, Charles Lindsay Warren and his wife, Patricia, of Middletown in Virginia. She is also survived by her very cherished grandchildren: Adrianne R Nowlin and husband, Donald; Warren C Richardson and wife, Callie; Rachel E and Emily A Warren as well as five great grandchildren: Jaxon, Jillian and Jacelyn Nowlin and Bowen and Coleman Richardson.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers from University Place, Evergreen Cottages and Heart to Heart Hospice that provided their care and warm touch during Laura Linn’s final years.

The family will gather for a private interment at a later date at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed toward South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main St., Houston, TX 77002.
