Miss Michelle Elizabeth Nelson Weds Mr. Britt Jacob Sobiesk
Miss Michelle Elizabeth Nelson and Mr. Britt Jacob Sobiesk were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at seven o’clock in the evening at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houston. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Father Philip Lloyd. Music for the ceremony was provided by Divisi Strings and Houston Boychoir. Following the nuptial mass, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at River Oaks Country Club with entertainment provided by Jessie’s Girls of Atlanta. On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Hotel ZaZa.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Francis Nelson III of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Francis Nelson Jr. of Denver and the late Mr. James Francis Nelson Jr. of Friendswood, TX and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Douglas Elder of Austin, TX. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Jacob Sobiesk of Houston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Edward Ray Knight of Lafayette, LA and the late Mr. Edward Ray Knight of Lafayette, LA and Mr. and Mrs. George Adalbert Sobiesk III of Lafayette, LA.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a Carolina Herrera ivory silk mikado gown which was accented with a soft ribbon band around the waistline and buttons down the back and the full skirt of box pleats fell into a long circular chapel train. To complement her gown, the bride wore an ivory long illusion cathedral veil with a ribbon edge designed by Carolina Herrera and carried a bouquet of white gardenias, hydrangea, and camellia foliage.
Serving as Matron of Honor was the bride’s sister, Mary Katherine Nelson Roberts. The bridesmaids were Audrey Hays Crowell, Ashley Minnis Dale, Macy Morris Jacobs, Kate Ghiselli Kelly, Susie Condara Maddox, Sarah Broyles McNamara, Gabrielle Colleen Morgan, Christina Marie O’Donnell, Katherine Elise Samson, Regan Gabrielle Sobiesk, sister of the groom, and Caroline Brooke Waters. The house party included Jaclyn Christine Elder, cousin of the bride.
Serving as Best Man was the groom’s brother, Peyton Edward Sobiesk. Groomsmen included Timothy Graham Ashe, Kellan Francis Belanger, Zareh Stefan Hovsepian, Jeffrey Anderson Kelly, James Edward Knight, cousin of the groom, Robert Hunter Latham, Barret Lane Marchive, Kevin Alexander McAndrews, Dylan Graham Sobiesk, cousin of the groom, John Logan Sobiesk, cousin of the groom, and Robert Swain Willard II. Ushers included Mark Andrew Allison, Austin Ryan Peterson, Garrett Austin Staudt, and Brian Harris Till.
Michelle is a 2009 graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Houston. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communications and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Michelle is an associate at Wulfe & Co. in Houston.
Britt is a 2009 graduate of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in Houston. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and is a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Britt is employed by Knight Energy Services in Houston.
Following their honeymoon to Australia, Michelle and Britt will reside in Houston. They wish to thank their friends and family who traveled to Houston to share in the ceremony and celebration of their marriage.
