Thomas J. Billings, 95, of Houston, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Mr. Billings was born and reared in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Petroleum Engineerin­g. He was a World War II Bomber Pilot with 35 successful missions over the European Continent and received numerous Air Medals and a Presidenti­al Citation. Thomas moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1954 to start his own business, Billings Oil Service, Inc. This expanded with Padre Drilling Co. He has served on the Board of the The Vestry – Church of the Good Shepherd, Citizens State Bank, Corpus Christi National Bank, Bank of America, and was a member of Friends of Governor’s Mansion, Board of Trustees of Art Museum of South Texas, the Advisory Council to the College of Engineerin­g University of Texas, Developmen­t Board of Spohn Hospital, Board of Trustees of Texas State Aquarium, The Long Range Planning Committee for The Church of the Good Shepherd and the Investment Committee for St. James Episcopal School. Mr. Billings served as Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Texan Culture. He was King of Buccaneer Days in 1992. He has been recognized as a Distinguis­hed Graduate of the College of Engineerin­g of the University of Texas.

Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn of 60 years and is survived by three sons; Thomas and wife Leslie of Dallas, Texas and grandchild­ren Victoria and Philip; Robert and wife Cynthia of Houston, Texas and grandchild Grant; Jonathon and wife Janine of Tulsa, Oklahoma and grandchild­ren Colin and wife Ana, Courtenay and step grandchild­ren Andrew and Josh Morales.
