MRS. MARION ELIZABETH “LIZ” EMERY

1943-2018

-

Mrs. Marion Elizabeth “Liz” Emery, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, quietly and peacefully departed this life Monday, November 19, 2018 in Houston, Texas.

Liz was the Daughter of the late Carl Ferguson and Marion Ferguson and was born on May 29th, 1943 in Sylvania, Georgia. Liz traveled the world due to her father’s military duty in the Army and met the love of her life, Bob Emery in Huntsville, Alabama. She was united in holy matrimony to Robert (Bob) Lewis Emery on August 17th, 1963. This union was blessed with two children. Liz was the consummate mother, wife, and artist. Her affinity for family activities, friendly gatherings, and life itself provided an abundance of cherished moments, much laughter, and a sense of warmth. As a mother, she provided a foundation of love and nurturing throughout her family’s lives. As a wife, Liz gave her heart and soul to Bob as he gave his to her. As an artist, possessing extraordinary creativity, she painted in various mediums, fashioned a holiday house wonderland, designed and made exquisite family clothes, and created culinary meals which always made family meals special. Liz had many friends through the Friendswood and Sagemont Bridge Groups, Eat-Out Group and Sagemont Garden Club. She also served as a Board Member of the Friendswood Historical Society, Member of the Friendswood Fine Arts Committee and volunteer driver for the Lighthouse for the Blind.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband, parents and great-grandson Castor Reid.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her two children, son Mark Emery and wife Melissa of Huntsville, Alabama, daughter Leslie Emery Perryman and husband Jeff of Houston Texas; four grandchildren Alexis Reid, Samantha Reid, Miles Emery, and Marissa Emery; brother-in-law; Joe Michael Emery of Santa Fe New Mexico, sisters-in-law; Gay Emery of Sun Valley, Idaho, Kim Emery of Rogers, Arkansas and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A special thanks to Atria Westchase and Hospice Plus for the wonderful care of Liz in her final days.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 12th at 11:30 AM at Friendswood Friends Church, 502 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX, 281-4827821 with visitation starting at 10:00 am. A vigil through this “little death” That’s over with the morning’s breath. And death, too, is a time of sleeping, For those who died are in God’s keeping. And there’s a sunrise for each soul, For life, not death is God’s promised goal. So trust God’s promise and doubt Him never. For only through death can one live forever!
