CONDO LIFE

High-rises: It’s all about a home with a view.

Living in a high-rise is the perfect place to enjoy the best views Houston has to offer, with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces, which are able to offer easy access in your home.

Residents can see the lights of the Galleria, the city skyline and greenery of the Medical Center and Museum District right outside their door.

Also, they enjoy the restful atmosphere of walking trails and dog parks drawing them into a green landscape.

At The Mondrian, residents can enjoy the high performance, expansive Low-E glass facade that maximizes access to natural light and views to the surrounding parks and tree-lined streets.

The Moderne in Rice Village also has its own unique views for their homeowners, who only have one home per floor in this six-home residence.

Houstonians who seek a 360-degree view of life can find this along with soaring panoramic views.

Betty Harbourt, senior vice president of marketing at Sudhoff, said views are often one of the characteristics buyers evaluate when selecting the floor plan that best meets their needs.

The Arabella, at 4521 San Felipe, is next to the River Oaks District in Uptown Houston and a short three blocks from the Galleria. Residents can enjoy views of the area from their sky pools on the terraces of several of their 99 units of this 33-story building.

2929 Weslayan, at 40 stories high, has floor-toceiling windows with black-out shades. There is a 30,000-square-foot eighth-floor outdoor living space complete with fireplace and unobstructed downtown views.

The Sophie at Bayou Bend’s design features private green retreat outdoor living spaces, some as large as 1,000 square feet, to enjoy the surrounding views.

“Typically high-rises are offered in high density/ inner city locations, which naturally offer views,” Harbourt said. “A high-rise is defined as any building over seven stories. Once the building is over the tree tops, a view becomes a standard feature of the home.” Galleriea area

Near the Galleria are properties such as The Houstonian Estates, at 3.5 acres, with magnificent forested grounds, foliagelined paths, and glens in this secluded residential setting.

Residents can see exceptional views of Uptown and a taste of a developing landscape with residential towers and towering office buildings at Camden Post Oak. Also, near the Galleria is The Dominion Post Oak, which is 31 stories and has views of the entire bustling area.

Texas Medical Center properties have views all their own — from The Parklane to the Mosaic — where both have Hermann Park in their sights.

“Generally, there is not a bad view in any high-rise building,” Harbourt said.
