Mason nets 40 as Baylor wins sixth game in a row

WACO — Makai Mason made nine 3-pointers, the most by a Big 12 player this season, and scored a career-high 40 points as Baylor stretched its winning streak to six games with a 90-64 victory over rival TCU on Saturday night.

The Bears (15-6, 6-2 Big 12) won their fifth consecutiv­e Big 12 game. They remained in a tie for the conference lead with Kansas State after the Wildcats won at Oklahoma State earlier in the day.

Mason finished 9-of-12 on 3-pointers, one short of the Baylor overall singlegame school record set by LaceDarius Dunn eight years ago. His 40 points were the most by a Baylor player in a Big 12 game.

JD Miller had 17 points for TCU (15-6, 3-5).

IOWA ST. 65, TEXAS 60

Talen Horton-Tucker scored 15 points and the No. 20 Cyclones held off the Longhorns at Ames, Iowa, for their fifth win in six games.

Nick Weiler-Babb had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Cyclones (17-5, 6-3 Big 12).

Kerwin Roach finished with 19 points for Texas (12-10, 4-5).

PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 81 ALABAMA A&M 65

Devonte Patterson scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Panthers rolled to victory at Prairie View.

Antione Lister added 18 points and six rebounds for the Panthers (10-11, 9-0 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference), who have won nine in a row.

Tre Todd scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs (4-18, 3-5).

OLD DOMINION 80, RICE 76

B.J. Stith hit a seasonhigh five 3-pointers and finished with 28 points, Ahmad Caver added 17 points and 11 assists, and the Monarchs edged the Owls at Norfolk, Va.

The Monarchs (18-6, 8-3 Conference USA), have won seven of their last eight. Chris Mullins had 14 pointsfor Rice (9-14, 4-6).

SAM HOUSTON ST. 94 STEPHEN F. AUSTIN ST. 72

Cameron Delaney had 18 points and Kai Mitchell had 16 with 10 rebounds as the Bearkats coasted at Huntsville to remain undefeated in Southland Conference play.

HOUSTON BAPTIST 73 TEXAS A&M-CC 72

Stephen O’Suji finished with 18 points to help the Huskies edge the Islanders at Houston.

O’Suji was 9-of-12 from the line. Ty Dalton added 14 points and Benjamin Uloko chipped in 12 for HBU (7-13, 3-6 Southland Conference).

Kareem South posted a career-high with 24 points for the Islanders (9-12, 4-4).

Women

Kalani Brown dominated inside with 23 points on nine layups and the topranked Lady Bears won their 32nd consecutiv­e Big 12 game with a win over the Red Raiders at Waco.

Freshmen finished the game for the Lady Bears (19-1, 9-0 Big 12).

TEXAS 76, OKLAHOMA 67

Jatarie White scored 17 points, Joyner Holmes had 14 points and 10 rebounds and the No. 12 Longhorns won at Austin.

Danni Williams added 13 points for the Longhorns (18-4, 8-2 Big 12). Ana Llanusa had 17 points for Oklahoma (5-15, 1-8). The Sooners have lost eight in a row.

RICE 48, OLD DOMINION 42

Erica Ogwumike had 12 points and 14 rebounds as the Owls beat Old Dominion at Tudor Fieldhouse for their 11th consecutiv­e win.

The Owls (18-3, 9-0 CUSA) limited ODU (16-6, 7-3) to season lows in points and field-goal percentage.

Dorian Branch scored 17 points as the Cougars won at home.

PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 77 ALABAMA A&M 65

Shala Dobbins scored 19 points to lead the Lady Panthers in a win at home.

Ayana Emmanuel scored 18 points in the host Hornets’ win.

Niya Mitchell led the Lady Tigers (8-11, 4-4 SWAC) with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Imani Johnson and Chanell Hayes scored 21 points apiece to lead the Lumberjack­s to a win at Huntsville.

Emma Young scored 21 points as the Islanders won at Houston.

HBU (7-12, 2-7 SLC) had three players in doubledigi­t scoring with Sophie Taylor and Amanda Johnson scoring 11 each and Natalia Gwarda with 10.
