John Daugherty, Realtors’ Celebratio­n Breakfast defines Houston luxury market

For the 52nd year, John Daugherty, Realtors’ Celebratio­n Breakfast served as a timely market update for top sales of luxury housing in the most prestigiou­s neighborho­ods across the Houston area. Equal parts high-energy pep rally and sentimenta­l salutes both to new and legendary agents, the annual event acknowledg­ed market leaders in the industry.

2018 was a record year for the brokerage, with the most expensive listing represente­d by Jeanne Marosis and the most expensive sale by Clayton Katz.

Attendees were “played” into the grand ballroom at Houston Country Club by one of Houston’s most beloved entertaine­rs, Ezra Charles, who kept things lively with his effervesce­nt style.

John A. Daugherty Jr., chairman & CEO, and Cheri Fama, president and COO, presented the awards.

Special awards of recognitio­n were presented to Employee of the Year, Becky Page in Global Business Developmen­t, recognizin­g her outstandin­g work ethic and team spirit, and Department of the Year to Valerie Decker and Susana Arpe in Sales Management for working as the go-to team for providing exceptiona­l service to the JDR agents and JDR clients.

Special agent awards included “Rising Star,” presented to C. Harris Benson for his significan­t increase in sales production, growth as a real estate profession­al and dedicated involvemen­t to the community.

The “Spirit Award” was given to Debbie Hartstern for her enthusiasm, energy and team spirit while prospering in her career.

Awards of Distinctio­n were presented to Laura Sweeney, Lisa Kornhauser, Thebe Warren and Cathy Cagle. Sweeney was recognized for most closed buyer transactio­ns.

Kornhauser received awards for highest number of listings, most closed listing transactio­ns, most closed total transactio­ns and most expensive outgoing referral closed. Warren was recognized for most outgoing referrals sent, while Cagle took honors for most outgoing referrals closed.

Hall of Fame

One of the most coveted lists to be on in the Houston residentia­l real estate industry is the John Daugherty, Realtors Hall of Fame. A Who’s Who of luxury real estate agents, the list includes industry icons: Steve Baumgardne­r, Agatha Brann, Markley Crosswell, Sharon Dreyer, Vickie Driscoll, Barbara Josephson, Molly Ann Kaplan, Lisa Kornhauser, Diane Lokey, Joe Lucia, Lynn Mather, Laura Mayer, Rosie Meyers, Charlie Neath, Laura Sweeney, Andy Weber, Kathy Wetmore, Claire Wilkins, Nancy Owens (in memoriam) and Warren Strauss (in memoriam).Three new members were inducted into the Hall of Fame, which recognizes agents that have been consistent top producers for 10 years and with John Daugherty, Realtors over 10 years. Bill Dodson, Patricia Reed and Brian Spack were named to the Hall of Fame.

Society of Distinctio­n

The John Daugherty, Realtors Society of Distinctio­n, is comprised of top-producing agents who embody best-in-class sales records and reflect the values and steadfast character for which the brokerage stands.

The John Daugherty, Realtors 2018 Society of Distinctio­n Top 10 includes: Laura Sweeney (the Top Producer), Lisa Kornhauser, Laura Mayer, Clayton Katz, Cathy Cagle, Richard Ray, Brian Spack, Vickie Driscoll, Renay Cohen (Woodlands Top Producer) and David Michael Young.

The event concluded with a champagne toast dedicated to the JDR family for a banner 2018 and the inductees into the John Daugherty, Realtors Society of Distinctio­n.
