M/I Homes begins construction of Benefit home in Bridgeland

-

M/I Homes has joined the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit Homes Project as they begin construction of its Roseville plan for the annual charity fundraiser. The Howard Hughes Corporation, donated the lot in Bridgeland.

Each year, two to three homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project with donated land, construction management, materials, labor and services by GHBA members. These homes are constructed with upgrade materials and features and sold at market value. Proceeds from the sale are donated to two local charities. The beneficiaries are HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. Since the project began 39 years ago, more than $11 million has been raised.

M/I Homes Inc. is one of the nation’s leading builders of single-family homes, having sold more than 111,400 homes.

“This is the second time M/I Homes has built a Benefit home,” said John Williams, president of the GHBA, “and it’s Howard Hughes’ sixth donated lot in Bridgeland. These two professional organizations within the industry are dedicated to not only designing and developing award-winning communities and quality homes, they are also committed to giving back to the community.”

Bridgeland is an 11,400acre master planned community located in Cypress. The community is consistently ranked one of the top-selling master-planned communities in Texas throughout its 12-year history. The award-winning development offers a wide variety of housing options and extensive outdoor amenities, with a strong emphasis on conserving and enhancing the natural environment. Bridgeland has 3,000-plus acres dedicated to lakes, trails and parks, and offers a resort-style pool, discgolf course, stocked lakes and complimentary use of kayaks, paddle boats and other recreational equipment for residents. Lakeland Village Center, now open, is the first of four retail centers in Bridgeland, with additional plans for a future Town Center along Grand Parkway/ Texas 99, which intersects the community.

“M/I Homes is excited to be part of the Benefit Homes Project in 2019 in partnership with Bridgeland, the Howard Hughes Corporation and the GHBA,” said Kathy Delgado, vice president of sales and marketing. “Knowing that the proceeds will go toward Operation Finally Home and HomeAid Houston is humbling, and we are happy to be involved.”

A second Benefit home is nearing completion. Chesmar broke ground in February on the 2,746square-foot Mesquite plan that is a two-story design featuring four bedrooms with a fifth bedroom/study option, three full baths, walk-in closets, a game room, an island kitchen and a two-story open family room off the kitchen. The home is being built on a lot in NorthGrove, located off FM 2978 in Magnolia, in southern Montgomery County. Toll Brothers, the community’s developer, donated the homesite.
