Sue Johnson: Galveston continues to be sought-after destination

- By Rebecca Maitland CORRESPONDENT

Galveston Island and Tiki Island are no longer a seasonal real estate market, as possible buyers and sellers are not focused on schools and other amenities.

“Galveston has a host of permanent residents. My clients are seeking rental, permanent, investment, second homes and vacation homes in this area. And most want to know, ‘how close are we to the water/beach?” said Sue Johnson, Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens RE Gary Greene.

Area amenities

Galveston Island and Tiki Island both offer many amenities, and the University of Texas Medical Branch is close by, which clients appreciate.

And Johnson is one that appreciates all the islands offer.

“My husband and I were living in Dallas, and when the kids were on their own, and my husband retired, we headed to the beach. We love it here,” Johnson said.

Johnson has been in real estate for 48 years and has been a Realtor in Galveston for 21 years.

“When my husband and I bought our first home, our Realtor said she thought I’d be a great agent and asked me to go to work for her. So, I obtained my license and went to work with her,” Johnson said.

Johnson attended Texas

Woman’s University, and has continued her education in real estate, as she has the Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI) designation, which is prestigious.

She has also continued to be an award-winning Realtor, with many awards. She also has served as a relocation director, manager, broker owning her own firm, and a Realtor.

Johnson is known for being personable, easy to get along with, experienced in working with a diverse population from all walks of life, and offers great market knowledge about her focus area. In addition, she is an expert at contracts, and every step of the real estate transaction.

Most of her clients are referrals, which speaks highly of the service she provides.

“The one thing I tell people is when you are buying or selling, make sure you have an experienced Realtor to walk with you through each step of the transaction. Ask for a referral from family and friends, and then check their credentials. This is very important because real estate transactions continue to change, and your agent needs to be up to date,” Johnson said.
