For Courtney Key, real estate is personal

- By Rebecca Maitland

Real estate is a personal industry and absolutely needs the experience of a full-time professional.

“It is important for people to know how valuable an agent is to understand the implications of the contract and the specific qualities that are most valuable and marketable in a given area,” said Courtney Key, a Realtor with Beth Wolff Realtors Real Living.

Key’s focus areas include Rice Military and Heights areas. She lived in Rice Military for several years prior to moving to the Heights, so she knows these areas well.

“I mainly work inside the loop, but have worked with clients in The Woodlands, Pearland and San Marcos. I’m open to going where my buyers and sellers are interested,” Key said.

The end of the year is always a great time to buy in any area for possible tax benefits, and many sellers are motivated to close before the new year.

Key grew up in Cypress and has been living in Houston since college. She had always been interested in real estate and then the opportunity to start work in the industry happened, so naturally, she knew it was her calling.

“My real estate career began in 2012, immediately after graduating from college. My major at Texas State University was fashion merchandising, with a minor in business,” Key said.

The fashion side helped strengthen her people skills and to find what works best for clients. Her minor encouraged her to be business-minded and taught her skills such as creative marketing, analytical thinking, ethical/moral decision making and goal setting.

“I began in the industry as a licensed assistant to one of the city’s top producing agents. I gained very valuable insight and knowledge on the intricacies of the industry, plus assisted with the closing of more than 200 transactions,” Key said.

She has also continued her education to ensure her clients receive the best service possible, such as

Relocation Certified in Destination Services and Marketing Assistance.

Key is known for being a good listener, focusing on her clients’ needs and wants, asking detailed questions to help her understand what is important to them, staying in touch, offering great communication skills, and being a real people person.

“Real estate is a time sensitive industry, so I try to stay available for my clients. My years of experience have taught me how to give my clients the best service possible,” Key said.
